A new bill has been introduced that forgives student loan debt for health workers. This new bill caters to health workers that have been treating patients with COVID-19. Many of these doctors are still in thousands of dollars of debt from medical school. Complaints have surfaced from Doctors about receiving a 50% hazard pay to whom they think should go to essential public workers. Complaints are mainly because the 50% of hazardous pay granted will mostly be spent on student loans for most Doctors. A petition was signed by over 500,000 people asking them to forgive student loan debt for doctors. Doctors have been the ones putting their lives on the line everyday to treat the sick. Debt forgiveness will help alleviate fears about doctors potentially dying of COVID-19 and their families being the ones who must pay their debt off. A house bill in March was proposed to forgive only public student loan debt up to $30,000.
